His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with a delegation representing the US National Defence University's Near East and South Asia (NESA) Centre for Strategic Studies.

Discussions during the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered the comprehensive reform process Jordan is implementing at all levels with the aim of entrenching democracy as the main foundation for development and modernisation.

On the regional scene, King Abdullah highlighted efforts exerted by all stakeholders to bring about Middle East peace based on the two-state solution.

The King also highlighted the increasing burden on Jordan due to hosting over half-a-million Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in this regard.

He reiterated the Kingdom's support for a comprehensive and transitional political solution to the Syrian crisis that would end the bloodshed and maintain the unity of the Syrian people.

The head of the delegation, Ambassador James Larocco, commended His Majesty's efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region and the Kingdom's reform drive.

Established in 2000, the centre is a US Department of Defence institution that builds relationships and enhances understanding in the NESA region.

Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and His Majesty’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury attended the meeting.
