His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held talks with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah on ways to increase bilateral cooperation and developments in the Middle East.

The two leaders met as Arab foreign ministers gathered in Doha to prepare for the 24th Arab Summit.

King Abdullah and the Bahraini monarch stressed the “strong Jordanian-Bahraini ties and their commitment to further strengthening them in the best interest of the two countries.”

The two leaders underlined the importance of working together to maintain coordination and consultations in support of Arab and Islamic causes.

They added that the Arab summit, to be held in Doha later this week, represents a significant opportunity to coordinate and unify Arab positions vis-à-vis various challenges. 

During the talks at Al Bustan Palace, the two leaders reviewed Arab developments, especially the worsening situation in Syria and its repercussions on the region.

They stressed the need to reach a comprehensive political solution for the crisis, which, they said, should end the suffering of the Syrian people and preserve the unity of Syria.

Moreover, King Abdullah briefed King Hamad on his talks with US President Barack Obama during his visit to the Kingdom over the weekend, which addressed the grave situation in Syria and efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in Palestine, on the basis of the two-state solution.
