King discusses cooperation with Ukrainian foreign minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko on means to enhance bilateral ties, particularly in the political and economic fields.

During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein, the King outlined the available opportunities and potential to increase cooperation with Ukraine, particularly in investment, energy and transport fields, with the participation of the private sector.

Talks also focused on increasing cooperation in technical and military fields.

The King said he is looking forward to discussing these issues during the visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to the Kingdom in April, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

His Majesty expressed hope that the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Ukrainian ministerial committee, scheduled for next month, will help activate relations between the two countries.

The King also outlined the latest developments in the region, the current political conditions in the Arab arena and efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East on the basis of the two-state solution.

Gryshchenko, who conveyed the greetings of the Ukrainian president to His Majesty, voiced his appreciation for King Abdullah’s role in achieving peace and stability in the region as well as his efforts to achieve comprehensive reforms in the country. He stressed that Yanukovych’s visit to the Kingdom will help strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
