His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, will on Sunday deliver a speech addressing local issues and the latest regional developments.
The address will be part of a graduation ceremony for the 26th batch of officers who have completed their studies at Mutah University.
The speech comes as Jordan faces unprecedented national challenges to its reform drive, such as a significant economic downturn and security threats in the face of the Syrian civil war.
The Syrian conflict, which has turned into sectarian strife involving Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah, has led to an influx of refugees seeking safe haven in the Kingdom, with their number exceeding 560,000.
The refugee crisis has further burdened the country’s infrastructure amid an energy crisis and water shortage.
