His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday congratulated Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani on his assumption of power as Qatar’s new emir.

In a telephone call, King Abdullah said he was keen on enhancing Jordanian-Qatari ties to serve the interests of both countries.

His Majesty extended to the Qatari emir wishes for success in leading his people forward towards further modernisation and development.

Earlier on Tuesday, the King sent a cable to Sheikh Tamim, expressing confidence that the new Qatari leader will work to strengthen his country and build on the accomplishments of his father, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

His Majesty asserted his commitment to continued coordination with Qatar on various Arab and regional issues, especially at this critical stage for the Arab region.

Also on Tuesday, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II sent a cable of congratulations to Sheikh Tamim, extending his best wishes to him and the Qatari people.
