King continues meetings at U.S. Congress

His Majesty King Abdullah held talks late on Wednesday with Speaker of the US House of Representatives John Boehner (R-Ohio) on means to boost bilateral ties in various fields.

Talks also dealt with the role the US could play to enable Jordan to better face its economic challenges.

Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Middle East, efforts to revive Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations and Jordan’s initiative to return the two parties to the negotiating table on the basis of a two-state solution.

The King briefed Boehner on the reform programmes carried out by the Kingdom in various fields to enhance the democratic process in the country and provide a better life for all Jordanians.

Boehner voiced appreciation for the King’s efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East.

Also on Wednesday, the King met with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) and a number of key Congress members and discussed regional developments, efforts to achieve peace in the region and bilateral ties.

Talks also focused on the meetings recently held in Amman between the Palestinians and Israelis and the outcomes of the Arab Spring.
