His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday said he hoped parliament's vote for the new Cabinet in Iraq would constitute a significant step towards building a new country that would be able to fulfill the aspirations of its people for a better life, democracy, pluralism and stronger national unity.

In a phone conversation with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, the King reiterated Jordan's support for Iraq to achieve stability and security.

For his part, Talabani voiced appreciation for His Majesty's continuous backing of Iraq and its people.
