King congratulates Obama on Nobel Peace Prize

His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday congratulated US President Barack Obama on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between nations.

In a letter, King Abdullah referred to the positive impact of Obama's speech in Cairo last June, in which he highlighted US interest in building bridges with the Arab and Islamic world based on mutual interests and respect, commitment to the two-state solution and achieving comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

The King also reiterated that he was keen to work with President Obama to achieve a just and comprehensive regional peace based on international resolutions that guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian soil, living alongside Israel in peace and security

He also emphasised the strong relations between the US and Jordan consolidated over the past 60 years.
