His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday sent a cable to the new Iraqi President Jalal Talabani congratulating him on his election.

King Abdullah stressed Jordan's support for Iraq to meet its aspirations and rebuild its institutions.

The King said electing Talabani is an important step to resume the political process in Iraq.

His Majesty also sent congratulatory cables to the new Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari and President of the Iraqi National Assembly Hajem Husni.
