His Majesty King Abdullah II telephoned on Monday the new President of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Mahmoud Abbas and congratulated him on his election as PNA President.



King Abdullah stressed Jordan's keenness on supporting
Abbas' efforts, which aim at achieving the aspirations of
the Palestinian people and establishing their viable independent
state.



The King had earlier sent a cable to Abbas in which he
congratulated him in his name and on behalf of Jordan's people and
government on the occasion of his election as PNA President. The
King stressed Jordan's keenness to cooperate and coordinate with the Palestinian side to go ahead in peace and to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.
