King condoles Kuwaiti ruling family

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday arrived in Kuwait for a several-hour visit to offer his condolences over the passing away of Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait.



The King was accompanied by Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, Senate President Zeid Rifai, House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali and Royal Court Chief Salem Turk.



His Majesty the King attended the funeral of the late Emir along with other Arab and Muslim leaders.



Also today, King Abdullah sent cables of condolences to the emirate's Crown Prince, Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah, who was named on Sunday as the new Emir of the country, and to the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.



The Royal Court announced seven days of mourning and the government declared three days of public mourning.
