His Majesty King Abdullah concluded talks with King Mohammad VI in Fez today, focused on regional developments and strategies to develop a unified Arab stand to address the challenges facing the Arab world today.
A joint communiqué issued at the conclusion of the visit indicated that the two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation, emphasising their dedication to fostering Jordanian-Moroccan relations.
King Abdullah and the Moroccan leader voiced satisfaction at progress made in removing obstacles to the flow of investments between the two countries, which stands to benefit further from the Agadir Agreement, which proposes the establishment of a Free Trade Zone among the Arab Mediterranean nations.
The leaders also welcomed the formation of a joint working group to foster economic partnership and increase the investment volume between the two countries.
Discussions between the two leaders covered several regional and international issues. They underscored their full support for the right of Palestinians to establish their own independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.
The two leaders stressed the need to resume negotiations with the objective of securing a comprehensive and just peace, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
King Abdullah and the Moroccan leader also stressed their determination to protect Jerusalem from attempts to erase its Arab and Islamic identity.
The two leaders also condemned the continuing Israeli violations of Palestinian rights, renewing their call to lift the siege imposed on them. They also emphasised their complete opposition to the expansion of Israeli settlements.
They urged the Palestinians to work through constructive dialogue towards the goal of national reconciliation, saying such concord will enhance the Arab and Palestinian positions internationally. In this regard, the two leaders expressed their appreciation for efforts to achieve this objective and their hope that these endeavors will lead to the formation of a Palestinian unity government.
They also welcomed efforts to settle inter-Arab differences.
Late Sunday, the Moroccan leader held a dinner banquet in honour of King Abdullah and Queen Rania. Moroccan first lady Her Royal Highness Lalla Salma and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Talal Bin Mohammad and Princess Ghaida Talal attended the banquet.
