His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday concluded a working visit to the United States during which he held a summit meeting in the White House with President Barack Obama on regional developments, efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, as well as means to enhance bilateral cooperation and partnership in various fields.
King Abdullah also met separately with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, peace efforts, especially the recent meetings between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators in Amman, as well as means to enhance bilateral ties.
With US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the King discussed means to enhance bilateral relations, especially in military fields.
His Majesty also met with US Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner for talks on Jordanian-US economic ties as well as means of supporting the Kingdom in light of the challenges facing it.
The King also held talks with senior U.S. Congress officials and committees, in addition to meeting a number of political and economic leaders and representatives of Arab-American and Jewish-American organisations in the United States.
On Thursday, the King met with President of the World Bank Robert Zoellick as well as the International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde and discussed cooperation in various fields.
In remarks at the US Chamber of Commerce, His Majesty stressed the strong Jordanian-US economic ties, affirming his keenness on enhancing them in all fields.
During his visit, the King was interviewed by CNN's Suzanne Kelly, Washington Post's Joby Warrick, and PBS’ Margaret Warner.
His Majesty also published an article on Mideast peace in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh outlined during the meeting with Congress Jordan's roadmap to reforms, noting steps taken in this regard.
