His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday voiced support for government's efforts to relieve economic burdens on the limited and middle-income segments, brought about by the international hikes in prices of commodities.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Nader Dahabi at the Prime Ministry Thursday, King Abdullah urged sustained efforts to work out feasible solutions to improve the economic situation and address challenges facing the country, mainly improving the living conditions of the people.
Dahabi briefed the King on the government's plans and programmes to be implemented during the coming stage.
King Abdullah highlighted that attracting Arab and foreign investments and developing the country's agriculture sector are top priorities which public institutions should concentrate on, due to their effect in improving people's incomes, providing job opportunities and curbing unemployment.
On the Decent Housing for Decent Living initiative, which King Abdullah launched in February, he underscored the importance of utilising all available sources in order to expedite work in the nation-wide scheme, which is expected to see more than 120,000 housing units in five years.
His Majesty also commended the government's plans to provide basic services, achieve comprehensive development and guarantee equal distribution of revenues among the Kingdom's governorates.
