His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday instructed the government to work immediately and effectively to intensify political action in the international arena to highlight the seriousness and illegitimacy of Israeli violations of Al Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.
Chairing a meeting of the National Policies Council, King Abdullah called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take an immediate and firm position to stop all unilateral Israeli measures in Jerusalem and end Israeli violations of international laws and charters pertaining to holy sites.
The meeting was convened to discuss measures to confront Israeli violations of Al Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites in Jerusalem. It also sought to look into Israel's unilateral measures in Jerusalem to alter the identity of the city and evict its Arab, Muslim and Christian residents.
The King warned of the negative consequences of the provocative Israeli measures, which Jordan has rejected and condemned.
He also emphasised the need for the government to continue the implementation of projects discussed last month at a meeting the King chaired in the presence of several officials and key Jerusalemites.
At last month's meeting, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan's continued support for the holy places in Jerusalem and for the steadfastness of Muslim and Christian Arabs in the holy city.
The King said that preserving and protecting Jerusalem is a Hashemite and Jordanian priority and that Jordan will never stop its efforts to realise that objective.
