Their Majesties King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, who concluded a three-day state visit to the Kingdom on Wednesday, were seen off at the King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba by Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania Al Abdullah.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal, Princess Alia, Prince Hamzah, Princess Nour, Royal Court Chief Salem Turk, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ilah Khatib, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Commissioner Nader Dahabi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh, and other senior officials and diplomats were also present at the airport.
In a statement to Jordan Television, Khatib said the visit opened new horizons of cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign minister also expressed hope that trade volume between Jordan and Spain would be enhanced.
In addition, he referred to the Amman Declaration the two countries signed on Monday, which calls for more dialogue, cooperation and understanding between Western and Muslim civilizations.
Earlier today, King Abdullah and Queen Rania accompanied King Carlos and Queen Sofia and the accompanying delegation on a tour of Aqaba, which included Tala Bay and other sites.
During the tour, Dahabi reviewed the port city's achievements after it was turned into a special economic zone to attract investments from all over the world.
He said investments in Aqaba, which has already exceeded $7 billion, had so far created more than 70,000 job opportunities.
Dahabi said the number of tourists in Aqaba was expected to reach more than two million annually over the next few years.
Also on Wednesday, King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, accompanied King Carlos to a JAF military exercise performed by the Special Operations Forces.
