His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received a phone call from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which covered the deteriorating situation between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

During the call, the importance of protecting civilians and respecting international humanitarian law was stressed.

King Abdullah highlighted the EU’s role in calling for stepping up international efforts to stop the escalation in Gaza and its surroundings, noting that the region will not enjoy security nor peace in the absence of a just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

His Majesty noted the importance of enabling international organisations working in Gaza to undertake their humanitarian duties and continue to provide relief to the Palestinians.
