His Majesty King Abdullah II met today with Gordon Brown, Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer and Prime Minister Tony Blair's successor as head of the government and leader of the Labour Party. During the private meeting, His Majesty and Mr. Brown discussed developments in the Middle East and bilateral relations between Jordan and the United Kingdom.
His Majesty stressed that putting an end to the dangerous escalation of events in the Palestinian territories and ending violence and infighting to maintain the unity and solidarity of the Palestinian people is a key priority to Jordan and underscores the urgent need to find a peace settlement.
