His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday urged the concerned agencies to implement the Decent Housing for Decent Living initiative, a nationwide, housing megaproject, “effectively and in accordance with a fixed time frame."

King Abdullah was briefed about progress in the project by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi.

At the meeting, His Majesty stressed that transparency is essential in realising the scheme, which he launched in February, seeking to provide low- and limited-income civil servants, Jordan Armed Forces personnel and civil and military retirees the opportunity to own a decent housing unit at affordable prices, with installments ranging around the same value of rent.

At the meeting, Dahabi said the government deals with the initiative as a national priority and is committed to implementing it in accordance with the King's directives.
