His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday stressed Jordan's commitment to develop ties with Brazil in the benefit of the two countries' common interests.
The King made the remarks during a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim who carried an invitation from President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to His Majesty to visit Brazil.
The King expressed hope that his next visit to Brazil would be an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides discussed current bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic, cultural and investment arenas. In addition, they discussed ways the Kingdom could benefit from Brazilian companies' experience in exploiting oil shale.
The King commended Brazil's role in supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and enhance dialogue between the Arab and South American countries.
They also discussed political developments in the region, particularly peace efforts and the situation in Iraq and Lebanon.
Amorim said his country values the King's role in establishing peace and stability in the region and ending the Arab-Israeli conflict. He also highlighted Brazilian efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
