King begins India state visit

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania today begin a state visit to India.

During the three-day visit, King Abdullah will meet with Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and deliver a keynote address at the India Council of World Affairs, a think tank established in 1943.

King Abdullah will also meet with senior Muslim leaders in India, which has the world's second highest Muslim population of 140 million.

The King will also meet with Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Party, and Lal Krishna Advani, the president of India's main opposition party, representative of Indian trade and industrial sectors.

He will also attend the signing of several bilateral agreements. The King and Queen are also scheduled to visit the Rajghat, the memorial to Ghandi.
