His Majesty King Abdullah and Sudanese President Omar Hassan Bashir on Tuesday held talks here on means to enhance bilateral relations as well as regional developments.



King Abdullah and Bashir agreed on the need to increase trade volume, activate the role of the private sector in both countries and promote investment.



The King congratulated Bashir on signing the peace accord that ended more than two decades of civil war, stressing the Kingdom's support for measures taken by the Sudanese government and southern leaders to restore peace in the country.



On regional developments, King Abdullah and Bashir reiterated their support for the Palestinian Authority's efforts to unify the Palestinian stand and build its institutions. They said international support for resuming the peace process was a must, particularly after the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.



The two leaders urged participation of all Iraqis in the political process to help formulate the future of Iraq and preserve its unity and stability.



Also on Tuesday, King Abdullah met with Sudanese First Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit and congratulated him on signing the peace agreement, saying the agreement would open horizons for development in Sudan.



Royal Court Chief Faisal Fayez, Deputy Director of National Security and acting Director of the King's Office Marouf Bakhit, Foreign Minister Farouq Qasrawi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh and the Kingdom's Ambassador to Sudan Ahmad Mubeideen attended the talks.
