His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday met in New York with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and discussed several regional and international issues.
During the meeting, King Abdullah and the UN chief discussed recent efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and within a regional context that brings about comprehensive peace in accordance with international resolutions.
They also discussed the latest developments in the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, which began in Washington earlier this month, and underlined the need for more efforts to achieve tangible progress in these talks.
The King stressed the urgency of the peace process, warning that a failure to resolve the conflict would encourage more conflict with a price that will be borne by the international community.
King Abdullah said the UN played an important role in dealing with international and regional challenges and encouraged a heightened role for the global body.
Talks also covered cooperation between the UN and Jordan in various fields.
