His Majesty King Abdullah and Bahrain's King Hamad Ben Isa Al Khalifa underlined the need to achieve Arab solidarity in order to reach a unified Arab position on issues facing the Arab world.
During talks in Manama on Wednesday, the two leaders said inter-Arab differences must be settled and that coordination between Arab states is a prerequisite for fulfilling the Arab people's aspirations to live in security and peace. They also urged parties in the region to settle their disputes and to respect states' sovereignty.
In a discussion of regional concerns, the two leaders underscored the urgency of achieving Palestinian national concord while urging the launch of effective and serious Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, saying that negotiations are essential to sustain the ceasefire in Gaza. The two leaders said that the only path to regional peace, security and stability is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the implementation of international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The two leaders stressed their commitment to advancing bilateral ties in various fields.
Also on Wednesday, King Abdullah met in Manama with several financial leaders, including the CEOs of major corporations and international banks operating in the Gulf kingdom. During the meeting, the King discussed Jordan's investment-friendly environment and reviewed procedures being taken to improve Jordan's economic performance. King Abdullah said the Jordanian economy has grown steadily, adding that Jordan continually seeks to improve its economic performance by adopting sound policies.
The King also referred to Jordan's experience in the creation of special development zones, noting that the establishment of these zones has created several investment opportunities in various sectors, especially services, industry and ICT.
Bahraini Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander Sheikh Salman Ben Hamad Al Khalifa also addressed the meeting and commended Jordan's development programmes and successes.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal and Prince Ali attended the meeting, along with the accompanying delegates.
