His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday attended part of a meeting held by Oasis 500, a fund that seeks to help young Jordanians turn their business ideas into reality. Oasis 500 CEO Usama Fayyad expressed his appreciation of King Abdullah’s support for entrepreneurs and the information and telecommunications technology sector, noting that the meeting aspired to shed light on some of the group’s promising projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Founded by local venture capital firms, technology companies and angel investors, Oasis 500 started accepting applications for its entrepreneurship programme in August last year, with the goal of helping fund 500 ideas from the MENA region by the year 2015. By 201, the company plans to finance around 500 entrepreneur projects in Jordan.
