His Majesty King Abdullah II accompanied by her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah patronized on Wednesday a ceremony to launch the second phase of the "Knowledge Station" Technology Community Center Scheme.



With the completion of the first phase of knowledge Station training scheme, Jordan marks a milestone in its initiative to build universal access to information and communications technology for all Jordanians.



In all, 75 of public centers have now been established in Jordan as part of a wide-ranging initiative designed to promote access to technology resources and training for Jordanians.



Their Majesties attended the event held at the Princess Iman Bint Abdullah Knowledge Station in Amman and hosted by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, to recognize the Royal Commission mandated with overseeing the implementation of the centers, donor organization, partner and key players involved in the Knowledge Station project.



During the ceremony, the King honored those who have supported the first phase of the project.



Minister of education/ Chairman of the Royal Knowledge Station Commission Khaled Touqan said that This initiative builds opportunities for people to drive community- level education and access to technology, it creates opportunities for young people to learn real- world technology skills and it broadens public access to technology.



Minister of telecommunications and Information Technology Dr. Fawaz Zu'bi said that so far, the knowledge Stations located throughout the Kingdom have enabled over 25,000 people to build new technology skills with a number of training courses ranging from basic computer literacy through to advanced technology skills.
