His Majesty King Abdullah II and American President George Bush held on Thursday talks that focused on supporting the peace process in the Middle East, the situation in Iraq and the bilateral relations between Jordan and USA.
His Majesty King Abdullah affirmed that the hard circumstances through which the Middle East region passes demand exerting utmost efforts and negotiation to settle the disputed matters and to give the Palestinian people, who suffers under the Israeli occupation, hope.
The King briefed Bush on the ideas and proposals presented by Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qureia' to get out of the predicament which the Palestinian cause goes through, and which would lead to re-launching peace negotiations that are based on what the roadmap provides for.
During the talks which were attended by senior Jordanian officials, the King affirmed the gravity of continuing building the separation fence on the peace process.
For his part, Bush affirmed his commitments toward achieving peace in the Middle East on the basis of establishing Palestinian and Israeli states.
On the Iraqi issue, the King affirmed Jordan's keenness on transferring authority to Iraqis and on continuing exerting efforts aiming at drawing up a new constitution and establishing an Iraqi government.
The King added that Iraq's security and stability are vital to Jordan and to the whole region.
His Majesty King Abdullah II thanked the USA for extending extra $100 million assistance to Jordan.
In press statements, the King said that matters in fact are difficult, hoping that his talks with Bush contribute to solving the disputed matters regarding peace process.
The King said that we are looking forward that our discussions result in more negotiation and bringing hope to Palestinians, noting that we did not give up hope despite the difficult circumstances of the region.
In press statements, Bush expressed his thank to His Majesty and said that His Majesty's vision contributes to reaching peace in the Middle East.
In a press statement to Jordan News Agency following the talks, Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said His Majesty the King passed on some Palestinian ideas that contribute to launching peace process and tackling the security issue in the Palestinian territory.
Musher noted that His Majesty, during the talks, stressed the dangers of building the separation fence by Israel and its effect on the future of the Palestinian viable state and on Jordan as well.
His Majesty King Abdullah II also met the American President's Advisor for National Security Affairs Condo Lisa Rice and discussed with her a number of bilateral issues in addition to the situation in Iraq and Palestine.
