King Affirms the Importance of Returning to the Negotiating Table

His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed the importance of returning back to the negotiating table and resuming peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis as soon as possible. He also noted to the importance of seizing the current opportunity to revive the peace process and put the peace process back on its proper track.



During his meeting with a delegation representing
assistants of US Senate members on Tuesday, King Abdullah said
that the establishment of a viable independent Palestinian state
within the frame of the two- state solution contributes to
establishing sustainable development, security, stability, and
welfare for the region's people.



His Majesty also stressed, in the presence of Royal Court
Minister Samir Rifai, Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation, Basem Awadallah and the US Charge' d'affaires in
Amman, the importance of supporting the Palestinian
leadership's efforts to hold elections.



On the Iraqi issue, King Abdullah stressed the importance
of continuing work to achieve security and stability,
affirming the necessity of holding comprehensive elections that
lead to forming Iraqi government representing all segments of Iraqi
people.



On the other hand, King Abdullah stressed that we are going
ahead in our political, economic, and social reform programs with a
view to build a modern state. Amman Message is a part of a long-
term process that depends on education with the aim of promoting the
true image of Islam, King Abdullah noted.



On their part, ,members of the visiting delegation valued
King Abdullah's role in supporting just and comprehensive peace in
the region. They also hailed His Majesty's vision to achieve
progress and reforms in the Kingdom.



The US Officials expressed appreciation over King Abdullah's
efforts that aim at clarifying the true image of Islam, stressing
that Amman Message forms a leading initiative to encourage dialogue
between cultures.
