His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday expressed Jordan's commitment to working closely with the United States to promote and encourage economic and trade relations, and to enable the US business community to invest in Jordan and the region, and play a role in promoting economic growth.
Addressing a meeting of the Jordanian-US Business Alliance, King Abdullah highlighted key areas to cement trade cooperation between the two countries, including information technology, telecommunications, tourism and manufacturing, energy, water, education and healthcare.
Despite regional unrest, the King told Jordanian and US businessmen, Jordan maintains flexibility, resolve and determination to move forward in enhancing the business environment.
His Majesty pointed out that the Kingdom has a strategic location as gateway to the region, and is a suitable partner due to available and qualified human potential and capacities.
The King described the Jordan-US Business Alliance as proof of the partnership between the two countries - extended, historical and distinctive, in the pursuit of peace, development, stability and prosperity.
His Majesty said that Jordan has embraced the Arab Spring as an opportunity to move forward in the process of ongoing reform, noting that the majority of lawmakers in the new parliament did not serve in the previous parliament.
The King said Jordan identified the essential requirements and stages needed for the success of the reform roadmap, namely a political party system that is pluralistic and representative, an effective parliament, and professional and transparent government bodies.
