Talks between His Majesty King Abdullah II and Syrian President Bashar Assad focused on the efforts exerted to make the coming Arab summit a success, and to harmonize Arab positions to get out with a unified Arab stand pertaining the developments in the Palestinian territories and the challenges facing the Arab nation.

The two leaders discussed also the initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to fulfill peace in the Middle East, where they highlighted the initiative as an Arab commitment to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region. They affirmed the importance of Israel؟s response to this initiative and to stop use of force.

King Abdullah II and President Assad stressed the importance of intensifying efforts and international endeavours to end the policy of military escalation and Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.

The discussions focused also on the Iraqi issue, where the two leaders reaffirmed the two countries` positions rejecting the attempts to target Iraq and harm its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The two leaders discussed several bilateral issues and fields of joint cooperation in a bid to serve the development process and enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.
