His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday said King's Academy will play a key role in developing the quality of education in the region and equipping young leaders with knowledge and modern sciences.

During a meeting with leading educational leaders in the US and members of the King's Academy's board of trustees, King Abdullah said King's Academy, an ambitious educational project for a boarding school offering secondary education in Jordan, “will enhance our vision for educational development which is based on exchanging expertise and adopting international educational standards.”

King Abdullah laid the foundation stone for the project in July last year. The school will start operation in 2006, teaching 9th and 10th grades. The academy is patterned after the Deerfield Academy in the United States.

The meeting was attended by the King's Personal Envoy and Special Advisor HRH Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad, Royal Court Minister Samir Rifai and King's Advisor Akel Beltaji.
