His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday headed to China on an official visit upon an invitation from the new Chinese leadership.
During his visit to China, King Abdullah is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping and other high-ranking officials. Discussions will focus on bilateral ties and the latest developments in the regional and international arenas.
From Beijing, His Majesty will fly to New York City to head the Jordanian delegation taking part in the 68th UN General Assembly session, during which he is scheduled to deliver a speech on the Kingdom’s stance towards regional developments, especially the Syrian crisis and efforts to bring about peace between the Palestinians and Israelis.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, the King is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as well as world leaders and global political figures.
His Majesty was seen off by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal, Chief Chamberlain Prince Raad and Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, in addition to a number of civil and military figures.
Prince Feisal was sworn in as Regent.
