His Majesty King Abdullah II on Saturday addressed the 11th Annual Banquet of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Conference in a video message entitled, "American Muslims: Partners for Peace and Justice."

King Abdullah extended his gratitude to all American Muslims for their support and solidarity following the November 9 terrorist attacks in Amman, stating that their voices "are tremendously important to the global Muslim community."

The King also emphasized the importance of Muslim unity in defending "the essence of Islam - the religion of moderation and tolerance," adding that the American Muslim community "provides an important example of how Muslims throughout the world can join together."

Referring to the spirit of Amman Message, King Abdullah said that every land that has known traditional Islam has "realized the great contributions that Muslims make when they are true to their heritage.”

The Amman Message was released last year as a reaffirmation of Islam's message of tolerance and shared humanity, its rejection of extremism as a deviation from Islamic beliefs and its fundamental values, among which are a respect for others and the importance of dialogue.
