His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday telephoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and hoped that the formation of the new Palestinian government would help resume the Middle East peace process, and strengthen the “internal Palestinian front”.

King Abdullah told Abbas it is important to prevent any attempt to divide the Palestinians. He stressed the need to support the unity of the Palestinian people, under their legitimate leadership of the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas, for his part, briefed the King on developments in the Palestinian territories and PA efforts to enhance security and tackle the “complicated situation facing the future of the Palestinian people”.
