His Majesty King Abdullah will hold talks on April 26 at the White House with President Barack Obama on bilateral relations and current developments in the Middle East.

The visit comes as an expression of the close friendship and partnership between Jordan and the US, and as part of continuous coordination and consultation between King Abdullah and President Obama over developments in the region, especially the crisis in Syria and the worsening humanitarian situation that has resulted from the conflict.

The talks will cover efforts to achieve peace based on a two-state solution and endeavours led by His Majesty to achieve comprehensive reform in the Kingdom.

During the Washington visit, His Majesty is scheduled to hold meetings with US administration officials and Congress leaders, both in the Senate and House of Representatives.

In a statement, the White House described King Abdullah’s visit to Washington as a demonstration of the close partnership between the US and Jordan.

“The president deeply appreciated the hospitality he received in Jordan last month and looks forward to continuing his consultations with King Abdullah on Jordan’s political and economic reforms, the humanitarian crisis in Syria, and additional regional issues of mutual concern,” said the White House statement.

“As the president said in Amman last month, Jordan is an invaluable ally and close friend of the US,” the statement added.
