His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday said Jordan is keen on the success of national reconciliation in Sudan and the participation of all political forces in efforts to preserve the unity of this Arab African country and build its future.
During a meeting with Sudanese Vice President Silva Kiir Mayardit today, the King said Jordan is ready to help with the reconstruction and development of south Sudan, within the context of strengthened Jordan-Sudan ties.
King Abdullah described the Darfur Peace Accord, signed in Abuja, on May 5, as an important agreement on the path to peace and national concord, underlining the need for the Sudanese people to combine efforts to ensure and sustain the success of peace efforts. King Abdullah said Jordan is willing to help in improving the infrastructure in south Sudan, including schools and hospitals, and would also examine the possibility of dispatching a field hospital to offer medical services to citizens in the region, which is still suffering the consequences of civil war.
For his part, Mayardit briefed the King on progress made regarding the implementation of Abuja peace accord.
The two sides also reviewed prospects of cooperation between Jordan and Sudan in all fields.
