His Majesty Returns Home

His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Saturday after an Asian and European tour, which took him to Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Britain and France, where the King held talks with heads of these countries on means of reviving the peace process, future of Iraq and initiatives of reforming the Middle East.



During His meetings, the King affirmed the important role of EU, whose rotating presidency is currently headed by Ireland to throw its weight behind efforts to push the Mideast peace process forward. Most of the EU leaders affirmed their commitment to support the concerned parties to reach the desired peace and to rid the region of ongoing violence and frustration resulting the long overdue Arab-Israeli conflict.



His Majesty the King affirmed the important role of the private sector and civil society organizations in the Middle East in the reformation process, which should take into account the unique circumstances of each country in the region. He also noted Jordan's efforts to create an Arab consensus on a self-reform that starts from inside and ensures solution to the Palestinian problem.



The economic side and means of supporting Jordanian economy topped the King's meetings with European and Asian leaders.



His Majesty began His tour by a working visit to Malaysia, where he inaugurated in the Island of Langkawi the Arab-Asian economic summit for New Asian Economic Leaders, with the participation of New Asian Leaders Association and Arab Business Council. In his address to the summit, the King stressed joint cooperation between Asian and Arab private sector leaders.
