His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday inaugurated several health, social and educational projects in Deir Alla District that he ordered implemented in July 2006 to enhance the living conditions of area residents.

During a visit to the district, King Abdullah opened the Dhahret Al Ramel Healthcare Centre in Deir Alla that was built to replace the old rented facility.

The new centre, which will serve some 35,000 residents and 2,000 guest workers in the district, is equipped with latest medical devices.

The new spacious healthcare facility also includes a dental clinic.

Upon the His Majesty's directives, three dialysis units were installed at the Princess Iman Public Hospital to serve 50 patients with kidney failure in the area, after residents complained to His Majesty last year that they were forced to travel to Salt or Amman to undergo the procedure. A forensic medicine unit was also set up upon the His Majesty's instructions.

Also on Tuesday, King Abdullah inaugurated a fully equipped rehabilitation centre to serve a 1,000 people with disabilities in Deir Alla.

The centre, which offers medical, psychological and social services for the disabled, seeks to detect disabilities at an early stage and raise awareness among families of the disabled on how to care for their family members.

Maintenance work was also carried out on 21 schools in the area upon the instructions, while fences were built for nine schools and kindergarten classrooms were established in three schools. In addition, fans and air conditioners were installed in local schools.

Deir Alla residents said these projects will make a difference in their lives.

King Abdullah also inaugurated a plant to manufacture organic fertilizers, which will create 15 permanent jobs and 10 temporary posts.

“I am happy to see these developments in the area and I want you to know that this is just the beginning, as we will continue to help you and support you to develop the area and alleviate poverty and unemployment," King Abdullah said during a meeting with community representatives.

“We still have a lot to do, therefore economic projects should be initiated to create more job opportunities… we have to work together and coordinate efforts during the coming stage,” His Majesty added.
