His Majesty King Abdullah II: A New Government to Hold Elections

A Royal Decree was issued on Monday accepting the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb. His Majesty King Abdullah II entrusted Abul Ragheb to form a new government. He said that the formation of the new government comes in preparation for holding parliamentary elections this year.
During a meeting with members of the resigning government at the Royal Court, His Majesty affirmed the importance of the participation of all citizens in the upcoming elections, which the King said will be a model for fairness and freedom. His Majesty also thanked the former ministers for their performance during their term.
The new cabinet was sworn in Monday Afternoon before His Majesty King Abdullah II at the Royal Court, in the presence of HRH Prince Faisal Ben Al-Hussein and Royal Court Chief Dr. Fayez Al-Tarawneh. In the designation letter, the King instructed the government to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections with transparency and fairness. His Majesty urged Jordanians to practice their right by voting and choose the best. The King outlined five basic tasks for the new cabinet: Protect national unity, cement democracy, face economic burdens, support armed forces and security forces, stand by the Palestinian brethren and back joint Arab action.
