The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) on Monday shipped humanitarian assistance to the people of South Ossetia, upon directives of His Majesty King Abdullah.

Donated by the King, the shipment consists of 12 tonnes of foodstuff, medical supplies and blankets for those in need in South Ossetia, JHCO Secretary General Mohammad Aitan said Monday.

During his meeting Sunday with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, King Abdullah announced that Jordan would dispatch humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
