The future of Jordan depends on its ability to create a knowledge-based economy, His Majesty King Abdullah said on Monday at the inauguration of the annual conference of ARAMEX International.

The King indicated that "Jordan has one of the highest literacy rates in the region and that boys and girls have the same opportunities for education and employment".

The King also said that's not enough. "The world is too dynamic for any education system to be satisfied with yesterday's progress".

Her Majesty Queen Rania also attended the conference, held to celebrate ARAMEX's 25th anniversary.

The King said Today's students need to understand other people and cultures, and they need access to the latest knowledge. "Business and government also need to be working together to support and grow a healthy regional private sector".
