Fourth baby born to Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania

Amman
30 January 2005

The Royal Court is happy to announce that Her Majesty Queen Rania gave birth Sunday evening to a baby boy, HRH Prince Hashem.

On the occasion, His Majesty King Abdullah ordered assistance and food items to be distributed to needy families around the Kingdom. Starting Monday, thousands of families in the governorates, badia areas and refugee camps will receive the aid, enough to meet their needs for six months.

The King and Queen, who have three other children, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hussein, 10, Princess Iman, 8, and Princess Salma, 4, called on citizens to donate to the "Safe Future for Orphans" campaign, which was launched by the Queen in Ramadan 2003, instead of posting congratulatory ads in newspapers or sending flowers.

Sunday's happy occasion coincides with the 43rd birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah.
