A total of 126 Gaza flotilla activists, including 30 Jordanians, who were detained by Israel, arrived in Jordan on Wednesday.
The arrived in the Kingdom following a Jordanian offer, initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah, to secure their repatriation and extend medical treatment to those injured in the Israeli navy attack on their humanitarian aid fleet Monday. Jordan strongly denounced the attack, in which at least nine people are said to have been killed.
Among the survivors are 4 Bahrainis, 18 Kuwaitis, seven Moroccans, three Syrians, 28 Algerians including eight members of parliament, one Omani, four Yemenis, three Mauritanians, 12 Indonesians, three Pakistanis, 11 Malaysians and two Azerbaijanis.
Secretary General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Ahmad Amian, welcomed the survivors upon their arrival and commended their humanitarian efforts to deliver aid to Gaza.
Amian said Jordan will provide all the necessary care and treatment for the injured in Jordanian hospitals before their respective embassies send them back to their countries.
Families of the Jordanian survivors commended the King's efforts to release their loved ones and to follow up on their situation since the beginning of the assault.
Former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Salem Falahat also praised King Abdullah's instructions to the government which led to the release of the activists and his call for a unified Arab stand to end the blockade on the Strip.
Meanwhile, former Jordan Engineers Association President Eng. Wael Al Sakka said that the Israeli navy's assault on civilian activists is a strong indication of the Israeli government's disregard of all international laws and conventions.
Sakka also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the King, government and foreign ministry for speeding up the release of the activists.
The humanitarian activists were received by Ambassadors of Kuwait, Algeria, Bahrain, Morocco and Indonesia as well as a number of diplomats upon their arrival in the Kingdom. Jordan's Ambassador to Tel Aviv Ali Al Ayed accompanied the activists to Jordan.
