His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday received a US Congress delegation, which included Senators Markwayne Mullin and Joni Ernst, and Representatives Jason Smith and Jimmy Panetta.

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty highlighted the strategic partnership between Jordan and the US, noting the Kingdom’s readiness to deepen these ties.

The meeting covered the latest regional developments, as well as the United States’ role in achieving stability in the region.

The King stressed the urgency of reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid by all possible means to all areas of the Strip, reaffirming Jordan’s rejection of the Israeli plan to consolidate the occupation of Gaza and expand military control over it.

His Majesty also reiterated Jordan’s rejection of Israeli statements regarding the so-called “Greater Israel” vision, which threatens the sovereignty of countries in the region, as well as unilateral Israeli measures in the West Bank, including the settlement plan in the (E1) area, which constitutes a violation of international law and an infringement on the right of Palestinians to establish their independent state.

The meeting also touched on the situation in Syria, with the King highlighting the importance of supporting Syria’s efforts to maintain its security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
