King directs army to establish special fund to support families of fallen army and security officers

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Sunday visited the army headquarters and discussed military issues with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat.

During the meeting, King Abdullah directed Freihat to establish a fund to support the families of those who died in the line of duty from the army and security bodies, to enhance the current support provided to those families.

The Royal Hashemite Court will donate JD5 million from its budget to finance the fund.

The King also commended the performance of the army units and soldiers and highlighted the importance of government support for the fund, while the private sector will have the chance to donate.

His Majesty issued directives to include the families of those who died in the line of duty as beneficiaries from the Military Credit Fund’s financing services, with loans exempted from interest.

The King also issued directives to further activate the role of the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans through revisiting its law and structure, building its own credit profiles and supporting retired servicemen’s productive projects and helping them find decent jobs.
