King meets Yemeni President, UN chief, Iraqi PM in New York

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s 71st session, Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, and discussed with him the latest developments in Yemen and efforts to resolve the crisis in that Arab country.

King Abdullah stressed Jordan’s support for the legitimacy in Yemen and all efforts designed to find a solution to restore security and stability for its people. The two leaders also tackled ways of addressing the various challenges in the region, particularly terrorism.

The Yemeni president expressed appreciation for efforts exerted by Jordan to support Yemen and stand by it in different circumstances.

In another meeting, His Majesty held talks with the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and discussed with him the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Syrian refugees.

The UN chief hailed Jordan for hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees on its territory and providing them with basic humanitarian services and assistance.

Meanwhile, His Majesty’s meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi focused on cooperation between the Kingdom and Iraq, especially in political and economic spheres.

The King emphasised that Jordan will continue to support the Iraqi government to defeat terrorism, restore security and stability in Iraq and safeguard its unity.

The Iraqi Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the support Jordan extends to his country to defeat terrorism and terrorist groups.
