His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday returned home from Brussels, after reaching landmark agreements with the union leaders, including simplified rules of origin, a key goal sought in the partnership with Europe.

The new rules will go into effect in July for a period of 10 years.

The visit’s outcomes included an increase in the total size of assistance to Jordan in recognition of its pivotal role in preserving the region's peace and security.

King Abdullah also agreed with EU leaders to launch the negotiations on the Jordanian-EU partnership programme for the coming four years.

The deal with NATO entailed expanding the NATO’s military support to Jordan through a capacity-building programme.
