His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday discussed with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy the latest regional and international developments, mainly efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.

During the meeting, King Abdullah and Prime Minister Rajoy affirmed that Jordan and Spain stand united to fight this global threat.

In this regard, His Majesty condemned all terrorist attacks carried out by the terrorist groups around the world, noting that such attacks require international cooperation and coordination to address them and put an end to the danger, which is threatening everyone.

King Abdullah tackled the burdens being borne by Jordan, which is hosting 1.4 million Syrians on its territories, noting that the large numbers of refugees add pressure on the Kingdom's already scarce resources.

The King urged the international community to step up its support to the Kingdom to help it continue to provide aid and services to Syrian refugees.

The meeting also stressed the importance of reviving the peace process, based on the two-state solution, noting that failure to solve the Palestinian cause would result in more violence and extremism.

On bilateral ties, His Majesty affirmed that Jordan is keen to bolster ties with Spain in various domains, while highlighting the investment opportunities the Kingdom is providing to investors.

The Spanish premier welcomed the King to Madrid and said that his country values the role played by the Kingdom to fight terrorism and boost security and stability in the Middle East.
