King meets Belgian PM in Brussels

His Majesty King Abdullah met on Monday Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the regional and international arenas.

The two sides highlighted their keenness to enhance their relations in political, military and security fields.

The talks also covered developments in the Middle East and ways to fight extremist groups.

King Abdullah highlighted Jordan’s efforts to combat terrorism through a comprehensive strategy involving all stakeholders, stressing the importance of promoting the true image of Islam as a peaceful religion and addressing Islamophobia as well as defending Muslim communities in Europe.

The meeting also covered the issue of foreign fighters joining terrorist groups, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as well as the Syrian and Iraqi crises.

Michel pointed out that Belgium is looking forward to deeper relations with Jordan and voiced appreciation for His Majesty’s efforts to address regional woes.
