King receives Libya’s interim prime minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday expressed Jordan’s full support for the Libyan people in achieving its aspirations and hopes to build Libya, and enhancing the country’s security and stability.

At a meeting with Libya’s interim Prime Minister Abdullah Al Thinni at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to ensure Libya’s sovereignty and empower its civil and military institutions, and boost their capabilities in this regard.

The meeting — also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi, King’s personal envoy and adviser for religious and cultural affairs, and Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour — tackled endeavours exerted to encourage national dialogue among different components of Libya.

The meeting addressed procedures the Libyan government is carrying out in cooperation with different regional and international powers to combat terrorism in the North African country.

For his part, Thinni briefed His Majesty on the latest developments in his country and the efforts the government is exerting to deal with different challenges, especially in facing terrorism and extremism, and enhancing security and stability.

The Libyan official also expressed his appreciation of the Kingdom for its support to the Libyan people, its assistance in confronting current challenges and Jordan’s help to Libya in building the state’s institutions.

Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Nasser Judeh, King’s Adviser on National Security Affairs and General Intelligence Department Director Gen. Faisal Shobaki, King’s Office Director Jaafar Hassan and King’s Adviser Abdullah Wreikat also attended the meeting.
